How the benefit is built

Four things decide your maternity benefit. Here is each one, and how it adds up.

Salary credit

Your monthly salary credit, matched to your salary in steps of 500 and capped at ₱35,000. The benefit is built on this, not your exact salary.

up to ₱35,000
Daily allowance

Your six highest monthly salary credits added up and divided by 180. This is the average daily salary credit, the value of one paid day.

MSC × 6 ÷ 180
Compensable days

105 days for a live birth, 120 for a solo parent, or 60 for a miscarriage or emergency termination.

105 · 120 · 60
Total benefit

The daily allowance times the compensable days. This is the SSS cash benefit, before any salary differential from your employer.

Questions people ask

answered in plain words

Your benefit is the average daily salary credit multiplied by the number of paid days. The average daily salary credit is your six highest monthly salary credits in the 12 months before the semester of your delivery, added together and divided by 180. For a steady salary, that simplifies to your monthly salary credit times six, divided by 180.
