How GWA is computed
Four steps behind the number, in the order they happen.
Write down each subject with its final grade and its number of units. Units are on your registration form or class schedule.
grade + unitsMultiply every grade by its units. A grade in a 3-unit subject carries more weight than the same grade in a 1-unit subject.
grade × unitsAdd all the weighted grades, then divide by the total units. The result is your general weighted average.
÷ total unitsCompare against your school's cutoffs for passing and for honors. The bands here are a general guide, not an official rule.
