How GWA is computed

Four steps behind the number, in the order they happen.

List your subjects

Write down each subject with its final grade and its number of units. Units are on your registration form or class schedule.

Weight each grade

Multiply every grade by its units. A grade in a 3-unit subject carries more weight than the same grade in a 1-unit subject.

grade × units
Add and divide

Add all the weighted grades, then divide by the total units. The result is your general weighted average.

Read your standing

Compare against your school's cutoffs for passing and for honors. The bands here are a general guide, not an official rule.
